i planted a cotoneaster hedge this spring. they have grown several inches since may. lately i noticed a couple of plants that appeared to be dying. their leaves turned mottled orange, beige and still some green. i thought they might be dry as we haven't had much rain but when watering this morning i noticed wormlike creatures on most of the leaves. the largest are about a cm. they have a slightly larger head than body. they have lines sort of like segments on them and a smaller looking tail. they are translucent brown with a black line on the back bone and the tip of the tail. when examining the leaves further is looks like they have eaten the green parts off leaving behind just the membrane. the membrane then dries out, hence the orange, the beige is the fresher membrane. please help someone. i don't want to lose all my plants. thanks |
