We have a north facing front yard in southern AB but because of large trees and drainage problems it is quite shaded and soil if often damp.  What are some good plants for this area.  Thanks

The first one that comes to mind is lily of the valley.  I just did a search on this forum looking for a plant that I didn't know.  It's called marsh violet and it might work.  There is a section on the forum under Info Zone (I think) that has a plant search area.  If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, there are lots of questions about what the plant should like.  It will give you lots of plants to select from.  Happy hunting

Just did a check and it's under "Tool Shed".  Pick the plant search finder and have fun.  There are lots of plants listed there for various zones, there is a zone map under "Info Zone" I believe.  Find your zone and you will have lots of options.  I found lots of plants I would love to have but I need more than 12 acres for them all.
