With only Sevin left available to home gardeners to fight root maggots, what products or practices are effective in deterring root maggots from crops of the mustard family (cabbage family, radish, etc.) and onions? Has anyone out there tried seaweed products? What about floating row covers? Anything else? Last year (2009, a very cold summer) my turnips and parsnips were inedible; and I am asking on behalf of someone else who has had problems with radishes and onions.
